Hello, Goodbye

I just wanted to do a quick post letting everyone know I'm alive and well! I got back to Virginia yesterday after two fantastic weeks in Nantucket. I didn't have internet access there, hence no blogs. Don't worry though, I have lots of fun stuff to write about in the very near future. Please, try and contain your excitment. ;)

The World's Greatest

I swear I've watched more TV in the past six days than I have in the past six months. I don't know that I've ever been so in to a Summer Olympics, in fact I may have somewhat of an obsession . . . The only problem is I don't have time to just sit and watch. I'm moving in three days! And whereas I have a good portion of my belongings packed up, I still have a little ways to go. And then there's all the good-bye's (or rather see ya laters) I need to get in. What was I thinking?! I pushed back my move date for a concert, what about the Olympics?! I should have thought this through a little more . . . ;) Don't worry though, my calendar's already booked for two weeks in 2010.

How the Day Sounds

One of the first things people discover when getting to know me is that I get quite passionate about music . . . especially the whole indie/folk/rock genre. That being said, it should be no surprise that I have little music video for your enjoyment. The artist's name is Greg Laswell and it's his latest video from his new album, Three Flights from Alto Nido. I think it is absolutely brilliant and so much fun! Check it out . . .

Not that Elijah Wood wasn't already way up there in my book, but he earned himself 10more cool points by doing this! :)

Old "Jim's" Place

Have you ever noticed that old, rundown diner directly across the street from Jordan Commons? It's called Jim's Diner, not to be confused with Jim's Family Restaurant. If you haven't seen it, then next time you happen to be driving down State Street, look west as you pass the movie theater and you'll see what I'm talking about. For those of you not in the great state of Utah, let me paint a picture . . . It looks like a shabby diner you'd see in a super small town, except there are never any cars out front, in fact you'd have to walk right up to the window and peer in to even believe the place is open for business. When you walk in, the place appears to be mostly clean, with the exception of a corner booth piled up with what looks like a D.I. trip waiting to happen. It's ran by an old Greek couple, Jim (imagine that) and his wife. I'm fairly certain they only have four customers a day. And they're the same customers everyday. They're open from 7 or 7:30 to 9 or 9:30, accoring to Jim. If you ever go, be sure to bring cash or a check, they don't accept plastic. Why do I know so much about Jim's Diner? Well, let me explain . . .

I have this friend Michelle and she's always wanted to eat at this mysterious diner, so she invited a bunch of friends to join us on our trip to Jim's. The more the merrier as far as these types of things are concerned, right? We ended up with at least 25 brave souls . . . enough to fill up every chair in the joint and even then we spilled over into some booths! We had a great time, despite the fact that we waited at least an hour for our food. We should cut Jim some slack on that though. He does all the cooking and that was probably at least double the traffic they see on a Friday night! To his credit he got everything right (plus an extra cheesburger), it wasn't the worst tasting food on the planet, and none of us got sick . . . at least as far as I know!
