Low

A friend posted this on facebook and I nearly peed my pants! Yes, it is that funny. Pay special attention to the kid in the red shirt. :)

Note: You'll want to turn of the music player so you can fully enjoy the video . . . sorry about that.

Bring On The Rain

Here's a post I've been meaning to put up for a while now . . . In July I went with a bunch of friends from my ward to hear the National Symphony Orchestra play the music of John Williams a Wolf Trap. It was awesome! They played selections from Saving Private Ryan, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Superman, Harry Potter, The Olympics, Indiana Jones, and the entire second half was Star Wars. We had a great time despite the rain. That's right, rain. Remember, Wolf Trap is a National Park for the Perform in Arts. Park would suggest the even was outdoors. We were soaked! It started pouring down buckets of rain as soon as we sat down and pulled out our dinner. Of course none of us thought to bring umbrellas, so we just decided to go with it. Honestly, I think it enhanced the whole experience. How often in life do you get to hear Harry Potter or the Olympic Theme with thunder and lightning as the backdrop? And to have it played by the incredible NSO . . . Such a good night!

Dave, me, and Kendra after the rain had stopped.

Some friends stopped and picked up garbage bags that we transformed into ponchos.

The National Symphony Orchestra

The whole gang! Five of us stuck around for the second half. So worth it.

Our pruney hands at intermission.

Darth and Co. showed up to add some fun to the night.

Everybody

The day we've all been waiting for! Okay, well, the day that I've been wating for . . . the release of Ingrid Michaelson's new CD Everybody! You can listen to it here and see if you want to buy it, but trust me, you will. You can download it for $6.99 on Amazon.com or $7.99 on itunes. Talk about a deal!

I love this album! All the songs are excellent! Except for maybe Incredible Love, I don't so much care for that one . . . My favorite track, however, is Are We There Yet? followed closely by Sort Of.

I can't wait to see these songs live on September 17th! And again on Nov. 4th. And possibly one other time this fall. Hey, if friends want to go, I'm there!

I Can't Help It

My most recent song obsession is caled When You Find Me. It's from the soundtrack for the new movie Adam. I can't wait to get back to DC so I can go see it! It looks like something I would love. Anyway. Paste Magazine was offering the song as a free download about a month ago and I snatched it up (thanks to Trent). I wanted to post the link so you could get it too, but unfortunately it's no longer avaliable. And of course it's nowhere online (that I could find). So with a little help from Windows Movie Maker and Youtube I present to you, When You Find Me. Enjoy.

Now, I know you're all shocked that it's a Joshua Radin song. Honestly, I'm trying to diversify my musical obsessions, and I feel I've been fairly successful. I just can't help it, Josh's songs find their way to the top of my most played list. Overnight in this case.

I was curious as to if he wrote the song himself or if he just recorded it with Maria Taylor. So I asked him.

And to my surprise he answered!

You have no idea how excited I was about this little insignificant tweet . . . :)

And just in case you don't know anything about the movie, here's the trailer for you.

Can't wait to see it!!!

Summer Town

10 things I love about Nantucket:

1. Outdoor showers. One of life's simple pleasures.

2. Digging 4 foot holes. Okay, 4 feet might be an exaggeration, but well over 3! Two full sized adults could fit in it if they were in the fetal position. Hmm. That conjures up some interesting thoughts . . . Anyway, it was rather difficult to get out of without collapsing the whole thing.

3. Great Point. Easily my favorite beach on the island. It definitely has the coolest shells.

4. The Juice Bar ice cream. So many flavors to choose from. I have yet to try one I don't love.

5. Time to read. I read 3 books in the first week and a half we were here. I have several more that I plan on plowing through before we head home. Favorite so far: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The sequel comes out on Sept. 1st. I checked with the bookstore yesterday and I'll be there first thing that morning to pick it up. One of the best books I've read in a long time. Check it out! (Thanks Al).

6. Lobster. I might be in love.

7. Hydrangeas. They are everywhere and they are beautiful! The colors are incredible! Pretty sure they've become one of my favs.

8. Building sandcastles. Possibly my favorite thing about the beach.

9. The quaintness of the whole island. You really have to experience it in person. Different than any place I've ever been.

10. Ridiculous outfits. Seriously people, just because you're on an island does not mean it's okay to wear patterned shorts/skirts with little lobsters, crabs, or Nantuckets embroidered all over them with your mismatched shirt. But thanks. You have provided me with hours of entertainment and some good laughs. P.S. You do, however, look great with that sweater tied around your neck.

I'm sure I could come up with several more things to love about this little island, but I'll stop at ten. And leave you with a picture of a Jellyfish I saw at Great Point on Friday. :)
