Summer Town Pt. 2: The Pictures

Nearly a month has passed since I got back from Nantucket, I'd say it's about time to post the pics! :)

The trip was quite eventful for Matty, he lost a tooth and learned to ride a bike! And let me tell ya, this kid roasts a mean marshmellow!

Ingy is a little fish, she loved going to the beach!

The Knutson's were nice enough to fly Spencer out to Nantucket for the better part of a week. It was so much fun, despite the fact that it made me realize how much I miss him.

One night we had ourselves a photo shoot. We paid for it too, the mosquitos were out in FULL force.

Karen and Kent were out of town for a few days while Spencer was in town, so we took the kids to the beach and had ourselves a good time. We played in the water, built a kingdom in the sand and turned Ingy into a mermaid.

This is just a small glimpse of the beauty of Nantucket . . .

We had a pirate party with all of Matt and Ingy's friends who were there (I'd guess close to 30), hence the pirate cupcakes I decorated and the costume Ole is wearing. We went to a demolition derby one weekend, don't worry, no BMW's were harmed! We saw several seals at the beach, unfortunately I didn't get any super great pics, but I tried! Then of course there were the puzzles! I believe this one was a "more than 500pieces" one. And the only puzzle I did that didn't belong to Ingrid. And then there's the horse shoe crab that Ole was scared of! Seriously, it was so funny to watch him circle and bark at the empty shell! :)

All in all, Nantucket was great! It's sure good to be home though! :)

It's hard to say that I'd rather stay awake when I'm asleep because my dreams are bursting at the seems . . .

I have a post almost ready to go with pictures from Nantucket that I could be finishing right now. Or I could be sleeping, which would be the smart thing to do, but alas you're getting this.

A friend on facebook updated her status with some lyrics to this song and it reminded me of how much I love it. It's not something I would typically be drawn to, but it was a free download on itunes in July and I remembered a friend telling me about this guy, so I got it. I didn't listen to it for a few weeks, but when I did I became a tad obsessed (hard to believe, I know). It's a fun little song with interesting lyrics. I actually ended up buying the album. And I really like it.

The music video's code was disabled, but here's the link if you want to check it out. It features a Speak and Spell, gotta love that!

P.S. This guy has a song about going to the dentist that cracks me up. Love it.

Never Forget

Eight years ago today I was in college. My alarm clock went off and I was so tired that it took a while to realize that the radio was playing. As I reached over to hit snooze I remember thinking, wow, that was a strange/scary dream and went back to sleep for 7 more minutes. When the radio went off again I saw the time and jumped out of bed (sometimes in the morning I struggle with the concept of time; it's not a good thing). I was quickly walking down the hill to the Taylor building when I saw my friend Nick walking home. He asked me if I'd heard about what happened at the World Trade Center. This is when it hit me that my dream was not a dream at all. It was shocking and everyone was affected by the news. We talked about it, we cried, we prayed in classes we didn't normally pray in, and we were glued to the tv. This was the kind of thing that you learned about in history class, not something you lived though. It's something I will never forget and that instilled in me a great sense of patriotism that I try my best to keep present in my life even when it's not July 4th or September 11th.

A friend posted a link to this video, done by the church, entitled "Finding Hope" on facebook and I thought I'd pass it along to you.
