Have you ever noticed that old, rundown diner directly across the street from Jordan Commons? It's called Jim's Diner, not to be confused with Jim's Family Restaurant. If you haven't seen it, then next time you happen to be driving down State Street, look west as you pass the movie theater and you'll see what I'm talking about. For those of you not in the great state of Utah, let me paint a picture . . . It looks like a shabby diner you'd see in a super small town, except there are never any cars out front, in fact you'd have to walk right up to the window and peer in to even believe the place is open for business. When you walk in, the place appears to be mostly clean, with the exception of a corner booth piled up with what looks like a D.I. trip waiting to happen. It's ran by an old Greek couple, Jim (imagine that) and his wife. I'm fairly certain they only have four customers a day. And they're the same customers everyday. They're open from 7 or 7:30 to 9 or 9:30, accoring to Jim. If you ever go, be sure to bring cash or a check, they don't accept plastic. Why do I know so much about Jim's Diner? Well, let me explain . . .
I have this friend Michelle and she's always wanted to eat at this mysterious diner, so she invited a bunch of friends to join us on our trip to Jim's. The more the merrier as far as these types of things are concerned, right? We ended up with at least 25 brave souls . . . enough to fill up every chair in the joint and even then we spilled over into some booths! We had a great time, despite the fact that we waited at least an hour for our food. We should cut Jim some slack on that though. He does all the cooking and that was probably at least double the traffic they see on a Friday night! To his credit he got everything right (plus an extra cheesburger), it wasn't the worst tasting food on the planet, and none of us got sick . . . at least as far as I know!
